Thousands Experiencing Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Weather Systems
Approximately 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, producing powerful gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage
Locals reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units activated to address the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, mainly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing - multiple assistance requests
- Wyndham region - 179 calls for assistance
At one point on Sunday, more than 28k electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
Tomorrow was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the area.
