It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
