Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for doubts to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase such as this with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
