RFU Presents Ambitious Roadmap to Elevate Women’s Rugby and Capitalize on England’s Global Championship Success

The RFU has pledged to maintaining momentum by launching a long-term blueprint designed to build on the success of the national women's team's championship.

Primary Objectives of the Initiative

Dubbed A New Era for Every Rose, the initiative details numerous significant targets, such as becoming the pioneering England squad to achieve back-to-back Rugby World Cup wins.

A further key aim is to increase participation to 100,000 women and girls taking part in rugby across the UK by 2030, up from the present total of 60,000.

Financial and Support Ambitions

The RFU is also striving to increase twofold its earnings from the women’s game to £60 million, enabling increased funding in local the game.

Additionally, the plan features a goal of attracting three million loyal supporters.

“The stakes have never been higher,” commented the executive director, the executive director of the women’s game. “The chance has reached new heights, but sitting still is not an option because the movement are now gaining speed.”

Creating a Legacy for Female Rugby

Teasdale stressed that the women's game has advanced greatly since joining at the governing body in 2011, when there were just 12,500 registered players.

Teasdale remembered that at certain clubs, while women were not prevented, they faced a lack of welcome either.

In spite of the progress made, she maintained that additional action is necessary to elevate the rugby, particularly amid a cost of living crisis.

Historic Milestone and Future Aspirations

“Last weekend, we witnessed an extraordinary achievement as 82,000 fans flooded through the stadium at the stadium to see our national team win the global championship,” she stated.

“Moving forward to the year 2030, we intend to sustain this drive continuing.”

Hurdles and Opportunities

Teasdale continued that the union operates in an landscape where resources are restricted, which can create challenging decisions.

“Ambitious strategies, particularly for the women's sport, inherently question the existing norms,” she commented. “But the truth is obvious: the long-term prospects of the game depends on the female rugby.”

Fan Engagement and Continued Focus

Meanwhile, the CEO, Bill Sweeney, noted that of the 400,000 fans who attended the championship, 30% had never attended a game in the past.

“Maybe the figure that truly enthuses us is that 90% indicated they want to come back and do it all over again,” he said. “But we can’t become complacent. We must maintain momentum.”
