Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior representative commented the attack left him without words and required to be resolved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
